Area of expertise
Counter opinions, second opinions and method-critical review
If an existing expert opinion raises questions, two separate services are available.
A
Method-critical review
The review covers the question posed, the factual basis, the methodology, the specialist conclusions and the internal conclusiveness of the existing opinion. The review is based on the files; a personal examination is not automatically required. The outcome remains open and may confirm the opinion, confirm it in part, or contain objections. Prerequisites are the existing opinion, the question at issue and, where available, the underlying files. The fee is agreed in writing in advance.
B
Independent counter or second opinion
The expert answers the specific medical questions on the basis of the documents and, where required, a personal examination. Prerequisites are the question posed and the available files. The procedure and outcome correspond to an opinion as described under Process and fees. The fee is agreed in writing in advance.
Professional basis
The requirements for this area are listed on the professional basis page: Counter and second opinions. For instructions see Process and fees.
